Thank you for reading our latest post; let’s jump right into it. We’ve all heard horror stories from friends and family members when they remodeled their showers. Instead of adding to the horror stories narrative, here are a couple of tips to review before pulling the trigger and deciding on the person who will be installing your beautiful brand-new shower!
[ ]Be vocal to your contractor about the vision you have for your shower.
*This can include the type of tile you would like if you want a round or square drain. Maybe you would like to add a shower bench; all of these are things to be in contact with your contractor with.*
[ ]Understanding and knowing how to install waterproofing properly. THIS IS A MUST!
*Proper waterproofing in wet areas is an absolute must! – If water begins leaking into the floor and wall spaces, it can easily begin to rot structural timbers and damage your house. The worst part about this kind of damage is that you usually won’t realize it’s happening until most of the damage has already been done.*
[ ]Having a TCNA handbook if needed (every installer should have one).
[ ]Certifications/Training is a plus, but not a deal breaker in my view.
[ ]Having direct lines of communication with manufacturing reps is essential!
*Ensures your contractor has the ability to perform their duty to the highest of their abilities with minimal technical issues that may arise.*
[ ]Ask for references, photos, and if they have any reviews online.
*For obvious reasons, you don’t want to hire someone who has a 1-star rating. Personally, 3.5+ is what I would feel safe with.*

Great tips! I’m going to print this out and keep it ready to go!
I like what this article mentions about waterproofing and how it’s important to ensure an enclosure is properly waterproof. It makes sense that having water leak out of the shower might cause flooding and mold problems. It’s something to keep in mind when looking to get a new shower enclosure as a professionally made one would be helpful.
