Brass is a very beautiful, strong, corrosion-resistant, material that is made from a combination of zinc and copper. Brass can become dull and tarnished over time but, you can keep your brass fixtures polished and shining like new by using these natural methods. There are numerous ways to clean solid brass. Your cleaning methods should depend on the level of dust, dirt, or tarnish that has built up on your fixture.
Try these awesome tips and techniques:
For our Brass Drains with clear coating on them:
- Use hot, soapy water along with a clean microfiber cloth: Go over your fixture with the cleaning cloth, Rinse your fixture with warm water and dry it thoroughly.
For our Brass drains without the clear coating on them:
- Use hot water along with a clean microfiber cloth: Go over your fixture with the cleaning cloth, Rinse your fixture with warm water and dry it thoroughly.
- Another way to #GoGreen and clean your brass fixtures is to use a combination of salt and lemon. Slice a lemon in half and then remove the seeds. Coat one half of the lemon with table salt and rub it over the surface of the brass that you are cleaning. Re-coat the lemon with salt as needed. Once the entire surface of the fixture is covered with the lemon and salt, buff it all off with a clean and dry microfiber cloth.
When it comes to cleaning and polishing brass, avoid using materials such as abrasive scrubbing cloths, metal-bristled brushes, or steel wool; these will damage the surface of your brass fixtures.
