Escutcheon Plate – Cover Plate
Escutcheons are necessary with shower valves and sink faucets to keep water from leaking behind them and require installation by plumbing codes.
Collars or escutcheon plates shall be provided to cover the openings around pipes penetrating walls, floors, or ceilings in finished areas that are exposed to view. The escutcheon plate is used to bridge the gap between the pipe’s outside diameter and the opening’s inside diameter on any given surface.
